A Delhi girl with a heart full of gratitude for Mumbai for making me its own and allowing my passion to become my profession.. Mumbai has been home for me since 2005 after completing schooling from Springdales School, Pusa Road in Delhi.. I began my musical voyage when I held the learning ropes of Hindustani Classical music at the age of 5. My music is my mother's passionate gift to me. Since the time I understood that life is about doing something substantial and one has to be someone when we grow up, all I could think of was to become a singer.. spread my music across borders through the world.. it all started with my mother Mrs. Nirmal Kakar, a Post Graduate in Hindustani Classical and a music teacher by profession. And then being musically adopted by my dear Guru, the Late Shree Byomkesh Banerjee (who I always addressed as Dada) to whom I entirely owe my musical aptitude.. He was responsible for my relentless holistic training ranging across dhrupad, dhamar, tarana, khayal gayaki, bhajans, rabindra sangeet et al.. My times spent with him had happily turned me half Bengali in terms of upbringing and food despite being a proud Punjabi.. Right from the onset, I could see my target and the road that takes me there.. but fortunately I had the biggest blessing for this.. My Family’s support! With just their support my first stage performance happened at the age of 5 singing Piya tose naina laage re from Guide sung by Lataji..and eversince I've been at it.. music is the only way I've known..

The Little Stars Journey..

I was extremely lucky to become a part of Little Stars at the age of 9, the gang of young, talented singers put together by the Music Director Anandji bhai from the legendary duo Kalyanji Anandji that performed n entertained audiences not just in India but across 2 world tours... Anandji uncle gave me pearls of advice that come handy now and carved me into becoming the performer on stage from those days...

The journey ahead... Delhi to Mumbai

After board exams successfully being passed my father's promise of taking me to Mumbai was completed. It's been a gorgeous road with a learning each day and many memorable moments that made me who I am today. Rangeela Re released on HMV in the album Baby Doll Chapter 2 being my debut which despite it being remix opened many doors for me. Many remixes such as Jal Bin Machli and Saiyaan Jhooton ka Bada Sartaj followed alongside a brief Musical Veejaying stint with ETC a music channel. Meanwhile slowly doors of Bollywood opened for me with Chham se from Dus by Vishal Shekhar and then with Himesh Reshammiya showing his kindness with wonderful songs such as Dil Vich Lageya Ve, Inshallah, and then Pritam Da with great songs like Marjaani & Khuda Ya Khair from Billu, the greats Shankar Ehsaan Loy gave me the title song of Johnny Gaddar.. My solo original album released on Sony music and bagged the BEST NON FILM POPULAR ALBUM AWARD at GIMA awards...
